Form Parking area...heading to the bridge
Go straight
Some of the houses
Pay attention to house with no. 26, in front of this house is the entrance to Gunung Chabang which is towards the small stream. The trail entrance is at the parked motorcycle in the photo.
This is the trail (junction orang asli)
Further up, few meters only, there is a small stream, cross it. Just jump on the rocks
This is the stream
up the stream, just continue forward
keep going
You will reach this house. Turn left. Follow the trail path
Keep going
around 100 meters, you will reach another house (Rumah Orang Asli)
This is the trailhead leading up to Gunung Chabang.
Going up around 100 meters or so, you will reach here, please turn right and go up
1.66km later (or 2.14km later), this is the small waterfall, cross it, the trail continued up ahead
Actually its 2.14km or so from start (I accidentally pressed the paused button earlier..dem!)
At False Peak.
It seems like we reached the peak, but no...
Actually its 4.5km or so
At the false peak.
Another 940 meters to go
This is the peak
Around 5.5km or so in 4 hours
Yup, we have to go through this bush tunnel - a knee breaking task
Along the way, you will find spot like this for photo session
and mesmerizing the horizon.
Looking back how and what you have gone through to get here
A panoramic view at one of the section
Not Green enough - it suppose to be green - its mossy
but turned out to be grey instead with my cheapo handphone.
Before the clouds whitened the valley below, better quickly snap one shot...haha...i beat you cloud.
Dont mind the ugly face ya...
Descending was relatively easy as its all the way down.
It took only 2 hours 30 minutes to reach the parking
just add 500 meters to the mileage ya
There you have it, complete guide on climbing Gunung Chabang.
Few notes to highlight :
1) I only bring 1.5 litre of water (1 litre of plain water, 1 small bottle of coke)
2) I travel light - few essential items only, first aid kid, survival kit
3) Hiking can be done in one day, no doubt about it but at least you are moderately fit enough
4) I walk fast, little time of rest, 2 or 3 minutes at check points, 20 minutes at the top
5) I ate less, for this trip I didn't bring food except 2 karipaps (uneaten...I forgot ok?)...
6) Few extra minutes for photo shoot, its a must to document your journey
Happy hiking
